This winter, Fine Arts have upcoming shows and concerts happening on campus. They have been practicing and preparing for their winter concert. Friends and family are ready to come watch them to feel the winter spirit.
“This concert is going to be the greatest one of them all,” senior Mia Chavez said. “It’s my last choir concert of the year. Hopefully I can give 100% to perform it, because this is going to be my last one. Wishfully the audience will have the most energy with us. It’s going to be so much fun. We’re going to do a lot of dancing while singing, and it’s going to be a wonderful night.”
Senior Sariah Murden, along with the rest of the orchestra, have been putting in their hard work preparing for the upcoming concert, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. .
“I’m honestly kind of excited and nervous for the upcoming winter concert,” Murden said. “A little more on the nervous side. The reason why I feel so nervous is because personally there’s certain sections in the music that I still struggle with such as intonation, and playing the correct notes consistently. However, the whole orchestra in general sounds really good.”
As choir rehearses their music for their winter concert on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m., emotions begin to rise.
“There has been so many memories from rehearsal,” sophomore Jeremiah Blanton said. “For this concert specifically the most memorable rehearsal I’ve had is the first one in class right after fall break when we got our music. I remember hearing one of the songs and I just knew everyone would love it. We’re so excited to sing it! It has someone rapping and a beautiful solo that I don’t think l’ll ever forget.”
Band members have been practicing every day before and after school to perform their winter concert on Dec. 16 at 7 p.m.
“Performing in front of a crowd makes me feel good,” sophomore Thomas Rivera said. “Seeing everyone’s reactions to the music, seeing how it brings out happiness and all the different emotions is really cool. I love seeing how our music impacts others.”
Junior Kamila Aguilera has been practicing for the Scarlet Sweetheart’s Winter Spectacular on Dec. 6 at 4 p.m..
“I’m somewhat excited for our winter show,”Aguilera said. “It’s my first actual show on varsity, and I’m also emotional because the senior lieutenant who was my junior varsity instructor because it’s her last winter show. She’s the one who inspired me to become who I am.”
The theatre president has been practicing after school everyday for the musical “Once Upon a Mattress,” premiering on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.
“We are often scared of messing up or not wanting to mess up at all,” senior Kayeson Tran said. “So we always comfort them by saying that messing up is a part of the job. No matter what happens, we’re gonna mess up eventually. When we do, it just proves that there’s more to improve. It shows you that no one is perfect and that everyone has their flaws, no matter how perfect you try to be.”
Overall, Jags hope you can share the winter spirit while supporting the Fine Arts department.
