Audrianna Lopez, Reporter

Sophomore and reporter Audrianna Lopez has started her first year out of many to come with “The Rosette Media”. Now guess who recommended her to it… Ms. Sidhu! As a sophomore this year Lopez is very grateful she got the opportunity to start her journey on building her passion for Newspaper so soon. Lopez plans on pursuing her love for photography and writing after high school. She is always yapping about anything and everything about band (band kid…). Whether it’s early rehearsal, Friday night games, competition season, Lopez will always find a way to bring up band in a conversation, (it seems like she really enjoys band…) moving on! She loves having company, so don’t be afraid to yap with her. Although she’s usually clueless, Lopez is a great listener, with very bad memory.. Anyways! She hopes to make many new friends this year and have a great and successful year!

Music isn’t just an activity—it’s her safe place. Whether it’s the early mornings, the long practices, or the excitement of competitions, she always finds comfort in her trumpet and the band that surrounds her. No matter how stressful life gets, she knows she can turn to music, where her passion, dedication, and closest friendships all come together.

Sophomore Audrianna Lopez adores music.  She has been playing the trumpet and has been in band since sixth grade.

“When I was in middle school my brother played the French horn,” Lopez said, “and I played it a little when he brought it home, and oh my goodness, I loved the sound of it. I love percussion, it’s hard to explain. That’s when I decided that’s what I really wanted to play.”

Lopez started out with all sorts of percussion instruments, leading her to the school’s band.

“My favorite part is the people in it because most of my friends were made because of band,” Lopez said. “So I love my friends and practice, the memories we make during the games and competitions. So honestly I love little bits of everything.”

Lopez’s normal is practice nearly every morning at 6:30, consisting of circle time, performing drills, running game day performances, and getting breakfast with the band.

“I absolutely enjoy the practices,” Lopez said. “I don’t care how many people say that the practices are bad because of how early we have to wake up or anything else. It just shows how dedicated everyone is, how dedicated I am.”

Lopez has grown with the band and has shown improvement since last year.

“I’ve been telling myself that next year I’m going to be one of the section leaders,” Lopez said. “At the end of this year I’m gonna try out for leadership. Since our section leader Andrew is leaving next year, I’m gonna try out to either be section leader or additional section leader. I feel like I would be a good leader.”

Lopez plans on going into Drum Corps International after high school.

“Playing an instrument is definitely something I plan on continuing after high school and into college,” Lopez said. “I feel like all the years I’ve spent in middle school and now in high school have built such a strong foundation, and it would be a great way to carry that forward. I feel like it would be such a good use of everything I’ve worked for to keep playing outside of school. Like, why would I put in all this time, waking up early and putting in the hard work for band, if it wasn’t going to mean something beyond high school?”

Hoping to become a leader, Lopez wants to be more involved and motivated in band.

“Last year, I hung around the wrong people,” Lopez said. “I was never in trouble, I just didn’t pay attention as much because they were distracting me a lot, and my goal is to also practice more and ask for more help if I need it, especially since I’ve made it to the first band. We have to learn most things alone. But last year, I know that I did region mostly by myself, because I didn’t ask for help, and I did really bad in it. I made around 72nd chair. So this year I would focus more on myself and my instrument and marching instead of other people.”
