Resident evil is a survival horror franchised game with players surviving in environments inhabited by zombies and other mutated creatures. The first game was released on March 22, 1996. It was the international best-seller, and became the highest-selling PlayStation game, spanning all the way to the current generation consoles with the release of Resident Evil 7.
It all started in 1968, 3 Men Edward Eshword, James Marcus, and Oswell E. Spencer
founded the Umbrella Corporation to work on scientific inventions that benefited the world. The scientists have been working on something called the progenitor virus. In 1996 William Birkin was able to convince his friend Albert Wesker to join the umbrella and to serve in “Special Tasks And Rescue Services,” or (S.T.A.R.S.). Meanwhile, Marcus created his very own T-virus. Everything was going well until The Umbrella team began to turn on eachother. Spencer wanted the T-virus to simply kill humans. He ordered Wesker and Birkin to kill Marcus. However, Wesker and Birkin saw the potential of the T-Virus creating powerful monsters.
The remaining members of Umbrella created a giant facility beneath Racoon City. Birkin smashes a T-virus sample which ends up infecting some rats who end up spreading into Racoon city. In September 1998, people had made reports that they saw groups of people attacking families and then eating them. (S.T.A.R.S) Rebecca Chambers, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield went to the mansion, they had no idea that Wesker was trying to delegate them into traps and manipulating them to test Bio weapons so he can take the data to sell. As they explore, they encounter infested zombies and other mutated creators. Suddenly Chris and Jill ended up learning about the evils of Umbrella. Wesker was exposed, then infects himself with a modified T-virus. And acquired a god complex. Racoon City was later nuked by the T-virus wiping the entire city with a population of 100,000. (though it was very unknown if any uninfected people remained in the city by the time the missile struck…)
Resident evil just doesn’t come with one game, it comes with many more. There’s so much more mysteries and chilling cases to unravel. But the real question here is….Would you survive Resident Evil?
In “Resident Evil” you must have a good IQ for the puzzles and have enough strength for fighting off zombies and bosses. These creators aren’t just your typical zombies, there are way more.
It’s a cold chilly night and you’re off to your first job as a rookie police officer at Racoon City. You get into your car and drive off. As you make it to Racoon city you see flames coming out of buildings. You stop rapidly as you see many people that don’t look so human. You notice your car is now surrounded by these half human creators. You panic, what would your next move be?
Senior Angel Leon explains what his next move could be.
“My next move would be to get out of the car quickly,” Leon said. “I would dodge the zombies and look around to find something to protect myself. If I spot a broom, stick, or anything wooden, I can break it and use the sharp part to attack the zombies. I would run into any building, but first before I do anything else I must check the entire building to make sure there’s no zombie inside.”
When you enter the building, you get surprised by a guy. You see his badge and discover his name is Leon Kennedy. Behind him there’s 3 other people they introduce themselves as, Christ Redfield, Jill Valentine and Rebecca Chambers. Do you think you will have a better chance of survival with them?
Junior Leonardo Vasquez chooses the team he would have if he was in the zombie outbreak.
“I would have Leon, Christ Redfield and Jill Valentine for fighters, and Rebecca Chambers for healing.” Vasquez said “I would definitely have a better chance of survival because Leon has been trained well and survived a zombie outbreak. Showing that he can handle himself. Christ killed lots of zombies, Jill is really smart, and Rebecca Chambers is a scientist so she will be able to heal us.”
You and your team check around the building, looking for different equipment such as healing, food, and guns. There are different doors that need different types of keys to enter. You spot a key but there’s a puzzle that needs to be solved before you can grab it.
Junior Aiden Abrego explains how he’s capable of solving the puzzles but can still come across obstacles
“I think I’m pretty good at solving most of the puzzles,” Abrego said. “ There’s just one I will have trouble with. In Resident Evil 4 there’s a puzzle where spikes come on top so you must move quickly to solve it.”
As you grab the key you and your team head to the Safety Deposit Room and unlock it. You search around the area and spot a pistol with a few bullets, and a shotgun. You head your way out, but you stumbled upon a 7 foot creature that’s nothing like the zombies you’ve seen. The 7 foot creature is “Mr. X.” Mr. X chases you until you complete a level if you fail to complete before the time limit expires it will kill you. Do you have what it takes to survive Mr. X?
“I would definitely not be able to defeat him,” Leon said. “If I was trained like how Leon Kennedy was managing to knock opponents down with a roundhouse kick, as well as doing random backflips, then yes. But me now as I am, it wont. Shooting at Mr. X he won’t take any damage unless you fire him with an rpg. The only option that will slow him down is a shotgun, that’s if you have enough bullets.
You and your team start shooting at Mr. X and throwing bombs but nothing could stop him from chasing us. The bullets and healing supplies are becoming low. We head into a room to find out Mr. X can not get into rooms. Your supplies are running low. What will your next plan be?
“Most definitely the supplies and saving others would be the most difficult.” Abrego said. “You need to feed yourself, protect , find herbs and bullets. As by saving others, there will have to be some sacrificing moments. My plan is to not let anything stop me, save as much as I can and keep moving forward.”
You and your team make a plan and start heading out. You creek open the door, peeking and see that Mr. X is nowhere to be spotted. Your team quickly makes a run for it. Jill Valentine spots an exit, she tells you and the rest of the team what she had found. Right before she finishes speaking Mr. X comes out unannounced. Before he could reach the team they all manage to escape.
“During my freshman year I played the Resident Evil 1 HD version,” Leon said. “I felt very scared the whole time, and felt bad for Jill because she turned evil. Overall the game seems super easy for me. During the R2 remake, I was terrified of Mr X. I was shooting him but he wasn’t dying. I ended up liking Leons Kennedy Skills. The 4th game was my overall favorite. I played it very often. The start of it was horror then it went straight to action. I was not afraid, I was more thrilled. You went to the village first then headed to the castle. It was a little boring but there was more action at the end. “
