Jasmine Villapacibe, Reporter

Sophomore Jasmine Villapacibe, has entered her first year in “The Rosette” Newspaper for her to explore something new in life. She really enjoyed writing because it felt like a safe space for her. Jasmine also has a passion for video games, she mostly preferred challenging ones because when it’s a challenge it’s more fun and it makes you push yourself to your limits such as Elden ring. Enough of that, let’s get to know her. She can be silly and shy at the same time but once you get to know her, you will know how she loves her friends and family deeply and not to take their time together for granted. At times she pretends to be nonchalant but once you get to know her there’s nothing nonchalant about her. She is always falling and tripping over her shoe laces and always laughing over things that aren’t even funny. She loves her two puppy’s named Biscuit and Peanut, which they always fight over treats and toys, always barking loudly if you don’t give them any sort of attention. Those dogs really think they rule the world. She loves painting the sky and landscapes because it’s like a picture that is never gonna be forgotten. Never go to her for math advice because she is very terrible at it.  What she looks forward to this year is to improve her writing skills and have a closer bond with her newspaper staff.

Mastering for a praise: Villapacibe explains her journey with challenging video games.

Reported by: Carolina Gonzalez

She stays up late getting out of reality, the drive of winning in her video game leads her. Fighting for the praise in her favorite game, Elden Ring, the one thing she thrives for.  As she approaches the hardest boss, she’s stuck with the same nervous feeling she gets as she fights for her life.

Sophomore Jasmine Villapacibe first started playing challenging video games four years ago.

“When I was eight I used to play roblox every day and night,” Villapacibe said. “When I got to the challenging video games in roblox like obbys and fighting games, that’s when I started to look up the games on youtube and saw other familiar streamers playing them, this caused me to want to try the game on my own.”

Loading into a lobby while playing her game, she felt this exciting feeling knowing that she was going to win.

“Looking at others struggling is what made me wanna play this challenging video game,” Villapacibe said. “I found it kinda funny because now I don’t have much to struggle with and I kinda miss it because now I feel like it isn’t really fun being the best at the game.”

The more she plays the more she’s drawn into the world she built. Starting her journey with challenging video games was easier than she thought.

“There’s nothing more interesting that catches my eyes than these games.” Villapacaibe said. “At the beginning I felt like I wanted to give up. I feel like there’s a bunch of new things I learn everyday and it’s like the game is never ending, but I do like how I can always replay with a new character and different weapons.

Looking back she saw herself grow from playing roblox to now playing more complex games, making her realize how much she loved gaming.

“My favorite memory is watching back on how much I would struggle on the simplest task.” Villapacibe said “I wanted to see how far I would go but it caused me to love it.”
