Growing up I never liked school, I would wake up early and run to my mother telling her about the stomach ache I have or the horrendous headache I “just got.” School to me felt like a waste of time, forming friendships with students and relationships with teachers was never an issue for me but feeling at home while being at a place that was away from it was hard. Going into my freshman year of high school I was introduced to the journalism program– my home.
Within time I was blessed with the opportunity to join The Rosette Newspaper which is an organization that not only is built upon writers but love and kindness. I have stayed with the impression that fate and destiny led me to this club that will always stay in the back of my mind. People I have met through this program are not just students but my family, because of them I have learned the true meaning of a family, home and love.
With much of my gratitude going to the students in this organization I want to thank Ms. Sidhu for being part of my journey. I have never met a teacher who is as passionate, caring, and loving to her students. She is the solid reason I believe in all the good things the world offers, love, kindness, destiny, and success. The day I met her was the day I started to look forward to going to school. Ms. Sidhu is the most human person I have ever met, because of her I was able to experience the best four years as her student.
I view my relationship with Ms. Sidhu the same way I see Matilda and Miss Honey. Just like Miss Honey, Ms. Sidhu is the true meaning of support, encouragement and love. Without Ms. Sidhu I would have never found a place like home, she is the blueprint of the journalism organization.
The end of my high school journey is near, graduation is now a baby step ahead of me. I never thought I would find myself loving school, yet here I am writing this story expressing all the positive things I have for this organization that has helped me grow as a student and a person. Growth to me will be something I will always have room for within myself, because of this organization I have learned to plant seeds in my heart and water them with kindness and love allowing a garden to grow. The tallest and most beautiful flower in my heart has been watered by the students in this program and Ms. Sidhu, the red rose with green glossy leaves is a reminder to me that people can help you love and grow.
I would have not had a beautiful journey to grow a garden without Ms. Sidhu. I thank her in every way possible for being there for me, listening, giving me advice, and teaching me. In a world filled with Trunchbull’s you are Miss Honey.
